Before you begin.

Your device
Connect it to a display and power it on.
A compatible APK
Get the file from an app developer you trust and check its device requirements.
Available storage
Check that your device has enough free space for the app.

Install your app.

Use the installer and file access tools available on your device.

  1. Transfer the APK.

    Download or transfer the file using a method your device supports. Wait for the transfer to finish.

  2. Open the file.

    Find the APK with your device’s file manager or download tool. Select it to start the installer.

  3. Review the installation prompt.

    If prompted, allow installation for the app opening the APK. Follow the device’s on-screen instructions.

  4. Launch and configure.

    Once installation completes, open the app. Follow the app developer’s setup instructions and review any permissions it requests.

If your firmware does not offer APK installation, follow the device’s own software instructions.

Check before retrying.

Does every Android app work?

Compatibility depends on the device firmware, hardware and the app’s requirements. TV layouts and remote control support also vary by app.

The installation will not start.

Check that the download is complete and there is enough available storage. Review any message displayed by the device.

The app installs but will not open.

Check the app developer’s device requirements and support instructions. An installed app may still require a different firmware or hardware configuration.
